Pitcher Durability Explanation

3 Great Opening Sim Performances
Reggie Jackson, Springfield Isotopes
Springfield's right fielder, Reggie Jackson, tried to put the team on his shoulders by driving in all 6 of his teams runs thanks to home runs in both the 7th and 8th innings. Kevin Appier, the Brews starter, was cruising when Jackson connected with his first shot on a 1-2 fastball that was quickly deposited down the right field line.
One inning later, Appier was in in serious trouble, and faced Jackson once again after loading the bases on a single, double, an walk. The first pitch of the at-bat, and 123rd overall was crushed well over the the right center field wall
But the damage had already been done, the Brews lineup chased Roger Clemens by the 4th, scoring 8 against the Rocket and the Isotopes bullpen.
Barry Bonds, Critical Failures
On Opening Day, the Failures outlasted the Highlanders 6-1 in an exciting extra inning game that was much closer than the score would indicate. Barry Bonds, the Failures left fielder, started the season off hot collecting 11 total bases in the victory. The #3 overall draft pick homered in the 4th, doubled in the 6th, singled in the 8th, and broke the game open in the top of the 10th.
Tied at 1-1 heading into extra innings, Derek Jeter and Jesse Burkett roped back to back singles off of Randy Johnson, who was still in the game despite a pitch count in the 130s. With a rested pen, manager Casey Stengel stuck with the Big Unit and it burned him to the tune of a 3-run bomb and game winning home run.
Joe Wood, Lakeview Zeros
The best pitching performance of the sim came from Smokin' Joe Wood who propelled his Zero's to 3-0 thanks to a 4-hit, 10-k shutout. The Inglorious Batters never had a chance and only had two runners advanced into scoring position on the night. Joey Votto struck out 3-times but did gather a single as well. Wood's final line: 9 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 10 K, 132 pitches.

A reminder to check the Injury Log or Current Injuries Reports - already we've seen Springfield's Jacob DeGrom go down for 18 days, plus Greg Maddux missed a start and George Brett lost time as well.
New line-ups are submitted weekly, however, you are allowed to make changes mid-sim to account for an injury.

Introducing the Ohio N95ers
“This is Chris Berman. Let's introduce the N95ers lineup: Leading off will be Sam Jethroe “Bodine.” Let's hope he doesn't hit like Granny or Uncle Jed. After that is the Stormin' Mormon, Bryce Harper “Valley PTA.” After the number three hitter, Joe Morgan is the N95ers' number one pick, Turkey “On Rye” Stearnes, who can really bash, and that's no baloney,” Berman says.
“In keeping with the longstanding American cultural stereotype that all Italians are somehow connected with organized crime, the theme from “The Godfather” will be the walk-up music for number five hitter Phil Cavarretta. The Fivers will employ a platoon of Bill Joyce and Melvin “For A Few Dollars” Mora in the sixth slot. Speedster Rickey Henderson will bat seventh, followed by another platoon featuring catchers Johnny “Small Mouth” Bassler and Brian Downing “Abbey.” In the ninth hole will be Jack Glass...” Berman starts giggling uncontrollably. “Ninth hole...Glassco...oh man!” The assembled beat writers engage in what can best be described as a group "Beavis and Butt-head" laugh.
Annoyed, Fivers manager Ray Kinsella yells, “Grow the ---- up, people. JACK GLASSCOCK. His name is Glasscock. So what? Do you realize how many people named Willie and Peter and Dick have played professional baseball? Do you know there have been more than 150 Johnsons in MLB history, as well as a few Wangs? Are any of you smart alecks familiar with Snodgrass's Muff or Merkle's Boner? AND WHAT ABOUT RUSTY KUNTZ? HMM? I gave up an easy country life farming and coaching dead ballplayers in an Iowa cornfield for this?”
It should be an interesting season.

Dayton Toppins Press Release
DAYTON, OH: Earlier this morning General Manager of the Dayton Toppins, Joe V, stepped to the podium to introduce his manager, Anthony Grant. Grant, known for his prowess in NCAA basketball, especially this past season where he put together the greatest team and season in University of Dayton history, is switching sports but vowed to bring with him the same approach. "What works in one sport, works in them all," said Grant in his stoic style, "Defense, balance, and limiting mistakes. That's what its about. Do those things and you will win. Don't, and it'll be a long season in any sport, from Basketball, to baseball, to whiffle ball."
Joe V and Grant assembled a squad they hope is designed to do just that. Made up of solid defenders across the diamond, but no one with an ATB career average over .300, and all with good career ATB OBP. The team also selected four straight pitchers to start the draft and plays in the hitter's desert 1906 Washington Stadium, where all manner of hits are hard to find. "The field plays to our men's strengths, and with the Big Train leading the way, we hope to ride our horses to the division title," Grant said. The hope is the offense can be led by the top of the order getting on base, and Gabby Hartnett knocking them in.
Joe V feels confident in his squad's capability, "Clearly, we will set some records. They could be for least amount of runs scored, or most shutouts, but we will be fun to watch." Grant, however, exuded confidence in his ability to get the most out of his team and believes they will win a lot of one run games. The exhibition season aside, where the team managed a 6-16 record, Grant believes the time for coaching and meticulous management of his team's talents will win out. "In the exhibition season we were just operating at a regular pace, no adjustments, to see what we have. Now that we know that, we will adjust our approach by player to maximize our efficiency," In the audience at the University of Dayton Arena, Commissioner Lou Poulas appeared to put his head in his hands and audibly groaned at hearing the phrase "adjust our approach by player."
Grant said. Known for his intelligent and intense approach, Joe V hopes Grant can do for the Toppins what he did for Obi Toppin. Time will tell in the NL West, where only one team in the Exhibition season played to .500 ball (Brian B at 11-10). Play Ball!
