ATB A Pitchers League Update

A few weeks ago I posted about ATB potentially turning into a pitchers league, but looking under the hood surmised that it was too early to tell and as we moved into summer the hitting would pick up. The chart above shows that is exactly happening.

Further, here is the league OPS by Month:

Pedro Joins the 93 GS Club

Earlier this year Roger Clemens and Greg Maddux hurled the best games of the year, each compiling a 93 Game Score. In Sim 8A, Pedro Martinez of Warning Track Power duplicated the feat:

The Greatest ATB Game Ever?

July 22 - Warning Track Power def. DC Chips, 9-7 in 22 innings. I could never do justice with a write-up, so just look at the box score. But, here's why you should click the link:

• 44 hits
• 32 position players
• 18 pitchers
• 30 putouts by one fielder alone
  
• Beginning with the bottom of the 9th, an incredible and stressful 10+ consecutive innings of no-run ball
  
• That included14 half innings ending with runners in scoring position through the end of the game.
  
• 6-runs scored in the 8th and 9th, the last one a 2-out base knock in the Top of the 9th to tie the game
  
• Both teams scored single runs in the 20th, one thanks to a key error, the other thanks to a key stolen base.
• The bottom of the 10th ended with a bases loaded double play.

Strargell's Big Night

What a night for Willie Stargell.

On July 24, the right handed DH for the Rusty Kuntz Traveling All Stars became just the the second player of the season to record 12 total bases in a single game. Out of 1973, the big left hander recorded 7 of his teams 8 RBI, highlighted by a bases clearing 3-bagger in the 6th. Stargell also walked in the first, homered in the third, singled in the 5th, and homered again in the 8th.

Catching up from last week...

The computer run Old Pete's Rabble finally gets some praise. Their right fielder, Frank Robinson, batted .417 with 5 HR, 11 R, and 12 RBI to be honored with the Week 7 Player of the Week Award





Harry Brecheen of the the first place Windy City Potato Pocketers is our Week 8 Pitcher of the Week. Brecheen went 3-0 with a 1.38 ERA and 1.79 RCERA in 26 innings pitched. He struck out 19 and walked just 2.

1) The La Chapelle-aux-Saints Neanderthals trade Travis Hafner to the Duke Street Kings in exchange for Reggie Jackson and Chipper Jones. Their stats:

Hafner - .301 / .417 / .539, 16 HR, 46 R, 47 RBI
Jackson - .186 / .291 / .339, 6 HR in 177 AB
Jones - .182 in 11 AB

2) The Potomac Rage ship the hated Kevin Brown to the DC Chips in exchange for Babe Herman.

Herman - .278 / .340 / .413, 8 HR, 45 R, 51 RBI

Brown, along with Randy Johnson who was traded last week as well, made their first starts with their new teams in Sim 8A:

Johnson: 8.0 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 7 K, Loss
