Otherton Fishbiscuits @ Borischtown Brawlers
Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Borischtown starter Henry Boyle walked 2 and yielded a whopping 10 hits in 8 innings of work, but most importantly allowed just two base runners to en route to his team's 5-4, 11 inning win.
Down by two heading into the top of the 9th, Otherton's Hank Aaron lofted a 2 run homer over the center field wall to tie the game and send it to extra innings. The blow came off of reliever Grant Balfour who started the 8th (interestingly, after Boyle had retired 7 in a row).
Balfour settled down, recording strikeouts for the final 5 outs. In the 11th, Larry Gardner made Joakim Soria pay for giving up a lead off single to Bill Dickey. The back up infielder tripled in the winning run, giving his team the 5-4 win.
