BPOTW: Why He's The First Pick Almost Every Bloody Year

After 15 games and through Sim 1 Leanne S must have been wondering where the life in Babe Ruth's bat had gone too. Was he out late every night carousing at the local pub? Or just upset he was playing for a girl? He was born in 1895 after all.

Whatever caused his slow start (hint: dumb luck of course) it has passed, and Ruth undoubtedly, without any reservation whatsoever, is our Week 2 BPOTW - Batting Player of the Week.

I can honestly say that his effort in Sim 2 was likely the best 15 game stretch in ATB History. It's worth a game by game blow:

4/21: 4 hits, HR, 2B, 2 RBI
4/22: 3 hits, HR, 2B
4/23: 1 Hit, 2 B, three walks
4/24: 2 walks
4/25: HR, 2 Walks
4/26: HR, 2 RBI, 3 R, 3 BB
4/27: 1 Hit, 2 BB
4/28: 2 BB
4/29: 2 Hits, HR, 2 R, RBI, Walk
4/30: 4 Hits, HR, 2 RBI
5/01: 2B, Run scored
5/02: 4 Hits, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 4 R
5/03: Hit, 2 walks1-2, 2 BB
5/04: Walk
5/05: HR, 2 BB

His line during the stretch: .533 / .682 / 1.200, 1.882 OPS, 9 HR, 17 R, 34 RC. The only reason I may have some doubt about this being the best week ever was his not so phenomenal 14 RBI. And "not so phenomenal" is relative - it's still a pace for over 151 RBI in a full seasons worth of work.

My two favorite stat - his 20 walks in 15 games.

Most importantly for Rochester though was their 10-5 Sim 2 record and sole possession of first place in the "Behind the Bag" division.

  1. The Rusty Kuntz would like to state that none of that carnage was enacted upon our dynamic pitching.

Ruth actually has more strikeouts than hits and is hitting below .200 against the Rusty Kuntz...if only it would stay that way throughout the entire season.
