In a landslide, the Cobblers closer JJ Putz wins the Reliever of the Year award thanks in large part to his minuscule 0.83 ERA over 97 innings pitched. He also had the best blown save percentage of relievers with 30 or more saves. From a (somewhat) classic closer point of view, he was clearly NLs best.
Down ballot is Red Ryan who was unarguably more valuable to the Batters than Putz was to the Cobblers. Sure, Putz had better rate stats across the board, but Ryan 225% more innings and was extremely good himself with a 2.04 ERA.
This year voters chose the eye-candy stats of Putz; but next year (?) on draft day who would they pick 1st if guaranteed the same numbers for ATB 20?
