- The last seeded Blackbirds continue to their march onto the finals, opening up a 2-0 lead against the Miners with a 7-4 win. Josh Gibson homered, and he along with Mel Ott and Nomar Garciaparra each had 2 RBI
- Ken Griffey Jr broke a ninth inning 1-1 tie with a 3-run bomb, vaulting the Shadows to a 4-1 win and a 2-0 series lead over the Phighting Philbens.
Barrow
- The Green Sox tie their series with the Blues at 1, holding off a late rally and winning 9-8. Jim Gentile led the offense with 2 home runs and 4 RBI, Jason Giambi and Oyster Burns added a pair of homers themselves.
- Yesterday, the Gossamers topped the Slam Dumps 2-1 in extra innings. Today, we have the same score in extra innings, only with a Slam Dump victory. Hank Aguirre was at the top of his game for Newark, striking out 9 against just 5 hits in 10 innings of work. Frank Howard won it in the 11th with a sacrifice fly.
O'Malley
- A four run 5th allowed Rochester to tie the series at 1-1, best Manetheren 7-5. Sam Jethroe, Chino Smith, and Gabby Hartnett had 3-hits a piece in the win.
- The Black Sox pounded out 15 hits and 8 runs in a 6 run win over the Pinata Beaters. They slammed 4 home runs, two by Roberto Clemente, while Randy Johnson pitched effectively through 8 for the W.
Rickey
- Luis Tiant tossed a shutout, striking out 11, and besting John McDonald 4-0. With the win, Helena ties the series at 1.
- Johnny Podres tossed his own shutout, with his Death Speakers squeaking by the Fishbiscuits 2-0. The lead the series by two as they head to Otherton for games 3 through 5.
