The East was the division to watch in the AL in week two. Fighting injuries, the early season favorite Spanish Harlem Pinata Beaters squad started off slowly with a .500 first week, though just a game behind the Shamokin Miners.
In Week 2, Shamokin plummeted in the standings losing 10 of 13 while the Beaters turned that number upside down, winning 10 against 3 losses.
Spanish Harlem had several stars on offense, but it was the pitching that was remarkable. Out of the pen, Tim Burke, Steve Ontiveros, Dave Smith, and Al Grabowski combined to pitch over 27 innings of 1 run ball. The rotation was great as well - Garland Braxton, Jimmy Key, Teddy Higuera, Rick Reuschel, and Dick Donovan tossed 82 innings with a 2.52 ERA.
Babe Ruth continued his hot start and is now batting .273 / .410 / .687 with 11 HR and 23 RBI.
The Dharma Islanders continued their hot start and opened up a 6 game lead after winning 10 of 14 in Week 2. With the rest of the division below .500, new ATB owner Justin B is trying to make a name for himself in the early going of ATB 16 - so far so good!
Duke Snider knocked in 15 runners and batted .368 and the pitching staff as a whole yielded just 111 hits in 124 innings and held opponents to a .699 OPS.
