I so wanted to add Haren and have 3 Carnies in the Starting Rotation |
With a combined record of 21-5, teammates Curt Schilling and Jerry Reuss head the AL all-start rotation. Schilling has been flat out dominant, striking out 118 against just 22 walks in 114 innings.
In the third rotation slot is Willie Mitchell, who is arguably having a better season than Schilling or Reuss. His injuries have kept him to just 73 IP and therefore gets slotted in behind the two Carnies.
Nels Potter and Carl Hubbell have stellar ERA's of 2.03 and 2.26 respectively, but their peripherals aren't quite as good as the others so they end up the AL's 4th and 5th men.
The ERA's out of the bullpen hurt the eyes they're so good. Cla Meredith and Joakim Soria each have marks in the 0.60's and the rest of the pen averages a 1.66 ERA combined: Dennis Eckersley in long relief, Billy Wagner as the lefty setup, and Tim Burke as the righty setup
Average Lines
SP: 9-3, 2.24 ERA, 100 IP, 83 H, 26 BB, 60 K, 1.07 WHIP, 2.36 RCERA
RP: 4-1, 1.25 ERA,, 49 IP, 32 H, 11 BB, 32 K, 0.89 WHIP, 1.60 RCERA
Not everyone can be an all-star, these pitchers narrowly missed the cut:
Danny Haren (BIC) - 2.32 RCERA
Chris Carpenter (SPB) - 2.56 ERA
Tex Hughson (GCG) - 2.66 ERA
Christy Mathewson (D29) - 2.75 ERA
Babe Adams (SPB) - 10 W, 2.94 ERA
Rafael Soriano (SH) - 1.45 ERA
Steve Howe (BIC) - 1.69 ERA
Jeff Zimmerman (BIC) - 1.74 RCERA
Octavio Dotel (TWP) - 18 Sv, 2.02 ERA
Mike Jackson (BIC) - 1.69 CERA
No Saito? WTF?
ReplyDeleteHe has 21 IP so his stellar ERA is less impressive with minimal playing time
ReplyDeleteYeah, yeah. I'm thinking of changing our team name to the Dangerfields 'cause we get no respect. :-)
