Steals of Home

Mike M, Owner and Operator of the Shamokin Miners, noticed a rare occurrence during his August 1 game against Niagara Falls - Robbie Alomar stole home.

Mike, a long time DMB player, had never noticed this and asked how common this is in ATB.  Trilogy to the rescue

So far this year there's been 7(!) instances, and Lenny Dykstra's done it twice:

Here's a history of the past few seasons and it turns out 7 is on par with what we should expect in ATB:

9 - ATB 14 (Jimmy Williams twice)
4 - ATB 13
5 - ATB 12
3 - ATB 11
8 - ATB 10

More than I thought.  Depending upon the number of teams there is between 1600-2000 games per season which means the steal of home happens about 0.4% of the time.  I have no idea there are more steals of home in ATB than in other leagues, I suspect not, but one never knows!
