With 23 wins last season, the Fishbiscuits Addie Joss tied the single season record previously held by Greg Maddux ("Mechanics" in ATB 13).
Thanks to a 4-man rotation, Pedro Martinez has started 35 times this season and has 18 wins. It's August 23 in sim time, and barring any injuries, Martinez should make another 7 starts.
Is that enough to get to 23? Technically, sure. He can win all 7 and end up with 25 wins.
However, a closer look at his game log reveals just how much of a longshot the record is. Martinez, while having a stellar year, has never won more than 3 decisions in a row and only once has won 5 of 7 decisions (5-1 to start the season).
It's not a question of losing, he rarely does, it's a question of decisions and asking any pitcher to factor (with a win and/or a loss) in 5 or 6 tries in 7 opportunities is too much.
