Snowhole owner Jay lamented in the comments about how poor Addie Joss has performed this year. I replied in the comments but thought the rest of the league might benefit too.
I realize this is no consolation, but looking at other stats besides ERA he is doing much better. Not like he "should", but within the world of reason.
His CERA is 4.21 and he's got a great 1.24 WHIP.
For some reason however, he is getting killed by home runs - 32 - second worst in the league. I don't know why he is doing this, most of the home runs have been at home (22 of 32) and you do have a park that prevents home runs.
Looking at the individual 500 resim seasons, Joss had an ERA under 4.00 seventy-three percent of time. He had an ERA worse than this years 5.46 just twice. That is hard to take.
He is also on pace to give up more home runs than in any single season of the 500 resims. That is even more difficult to take.
In short - I believe it is about the worst luck you could realistically run into.Sometimes DMB destroys a players season, just like what happens in real life. I am suffering something similar with my #4 pick, Frank Thomas. He has a .604 OPS at the moment and never in the .500 resims was it that poor. One time he had a .615, another a .630, and every time else it was .650 or better. He averaged .838 and at his best saw 1.073.
That's what I see - I prayed for a an OPS over 1.000 and got one of .600.
Nice way to make this article about you Lou! I think Thomas got balanced by your Podres season, geez.
ReplyDeleteIs that you JP?
ReplyDeleteI am bitter! I have no right to complain with a comfy division lead, but the Red Eagles have been struggling lately. Between thomas and Stearnes' .288 OBP vs lefties I am about to platoon my 1st and 4th round picks!
yeah, it's me. you should platoon them, they suck! haha. I'm bitter about my -6 pyth comparison. Should have best record if pyth had anything to say! Playoffs should be fun.
