#11 – Otherton Fish Biscuits
Owner: Brian B
This has to bring a nice smile to Brian’s face. After a disappointing 77 win season (though with flashes of greatness) the Fishbiscuits gave a solid showing in the resims. Eleven times they finished above .500, making the playoffs in almost half of them. They topped out at 95 wins in 6 other times reached 88 wins or better. Out of curiosity, I looked up the 95 win season to see how close they came to the division title, and they weren’t all that near the top, finishing in 3rd place, 9 games behind the Death Speakers.
The strength of the team was their offense. Three players are listed below in the “800+ OPS” section, but 4 other regulars had OPS scores over .760 too. They hit an inordinate amount of HRs with sever different players at 18 or more.
Their difficulty of course, was the pitching staff. Half of their starting rotation had ERA’s north of 5.00 and outside the best two relievers, the balance had an ERA of 4.91.
800 OPS Batters
Rd1 – Honus Wagner: .326 / .369 / .467, 18 3B, 117 R
Rd3 – Frank Robinson: .285 / .349 / .479, 34 HR, 116 RBI
Rd8 – Albert Belle: .295 / .341 / .485, 33 HR, 126 RBI
Sub 4.00 ERA Starters
None, but Charlie Sweeney was decent with a 4.29 ERA
Sub 3.25 ERA Relievers
Rd18 – Bryan Harvey: 68 IP, 2.99 ERA, 1.31 WHIP
Bust Draft Pick
Rd8 – Silver King: 12-15, 5.09 ERA, 1.16 WHIP
Value Draft Pick
Rd19 – Andrew Bailey: 85 IP, 3.56 ERA, 1.39 WHIP
I am really excited about these results, in my 3rd season of ATB I finally have a team that can't automatically be called LOSERS, 13/20 non losing seasons. If now I can just figure out a way to combine my drafting of offense and pitching together.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted to break into the top 10 BUT being 8th in RunDiff makes me happy enough to go from the CellarDwellers the OFB has been to mediocre.
