#16 – Planet 10
Owner: Ivar A
What might have been. Ivar selected a solid squad for most of the draft but in the end to many of the middle round picks underperformed considerably. Think about it – three well above average league starters plus very good core lineup that began with Larry Walker and Jason Giambi. Perhaps not 90+ win potential, but certainly above .500 and nowhere near as bad as the 63 wins Planet 10 accumulated during the regular season.
So what went wrong? The offense. Goose Goslin (.554 OPS) may be the worse second round pick of all time and all batters taken after the 8th round averaged a .636 OPS.
Javy Lopez deserves mention as a power hitting catcher averaging 28 home runs per season.
