Heading to the 11th tied at two's, the Shadows scored the go ahead run off of Dennis Eckersely on a Alex Rodriguez single. Eck buckled down, recording two outs with a runner on third. It was crucial, for in the bottom of the 11th Tim Raines scored the game tying run thanks to some nifty base running. He singled, stole second, and advanced to third on an infield single. Reliever Bruce Sutter bounced a pitch in front of played and it got a few feet away from catcher Johnny Kling just enough for Raines to scoot home, tying the game.
After 4 1/2 scoreless innings, the Biscuits won the game when Dave Bancroft singled home Ken Singleton with 1-out in the 16th.
