Exhibition Standings - 3 More Games

http://www.alltimebaseballsim.net/Pre-Season.htm

Everyone has enough players now, so I ran 3 more exhbitions games per team.  Some of you who had exhibitions early in the day will notice repeat starting pitchers.  This may  happen one more time in the pre-season when I reset profiles for the DH teams.  As of today, the AL doesn't have enough players per team to use a DH lineup.

Of course - no stats or usage will count towards the regular season.

First Two Exhibitions Posted

The exhibition page is linked to the right, and here is the direct link.

For the unitiated, I will try and give each team 20-25 exhibition games.  Once you have enough players for a full lineup and at least two pitchers you are automatically included.

Please put very little stock in these games.  Computer lineups, partial teams, and odd rotations have large impacts on outcomes.  They are just for fun.

Having said that, boy Kevin Brown and Eddie Cicotte sure look lost while Harvey Haddix was virtually unhittable!

Real Life Team Totals So Far

This is virtually meaningless since it is unadjusted for park, era, and we just started round 5 - but here are the real life totals for our teams to to date.

This should only be used to gauge owner drafting strategy.  For instance:

  • Jason B is going for power while Justin P could care less about the long ball
  • Thomas R likes the idea of stealing a base or two
  • Somehow Greg M still has a team batting average of .395
  • etc.

Two Barnstorming Exhibition Games

Walter "Big Train" Johnson and Christy "Big Six" Mathewson got together and formed two teams to barnstorm around the nation.  Two exhibitions were held so far, one in NY and the other LA.

Game 1 - LA
In a wonderful pitchers duel, Lou Gehrig creams a ninth inning 3-run bomb to give the Big Six's the win.  Christy and Walter both pitched well and Babe Ruth added 2-hits.

Game 2 - NY
Extra baseball!  A-Rod's pinch hit homer in the 9th ties it for the Big Train's, but Mike Schmidt's 11th inning single eventually wins it for Big Six.  Pedro struck out 12 and gave up just 4 hits.  Koufax lasted into the ninth giving up 8 hits and striking out 7.

AL Central Parks - Too Awesome and Powerful to Put Into Words

Actually, kinda boring.

Introducing the Flin Flon Arctic Foxes

With the sad news that the literal John McDonald has hung hup his spikes, Jason B is retiring the franchise named after the defensive wizard, relocating it to Flin Flon, and renaming them to the Arctic Foxes.

For the 23 American's in the league, Flin Flon is a Canadian city in Manitoba.  It's a manageable -8 F there today.

"Mechanics" Move Back to Willets Point

FLUSHING, NY - The 'Mechanics' have returned to Willets Point, at the behest of their new General Manager Ralph Kiner. In addition, Kiner has purchased several repair shops in the immediate area and has re-branded them Kiner's Karburetor Korner. When reached for comment, Kiner said "I can't believe Joe Gordon would allow his team to be relocated to that hick state of Pennsylvania. If he were alive today he would be spinning in his grave. Now when can we sign Gary Cooper to a new contract??"

Here is Matt B's logo.  Thanks for the write-up Matt!

Fitting Word Prediction From Swift Key

Excel Issue Impacting Player Card File for Some

Some of you may be experiencing issues with the player card files.  On some versions of excel, the drop down menu for selecting a player name is not working properly.

Mike M was kind enough to hunt down the root cause.  A recent update from Microsoft is throwing some things out of whack.  Here is the fix.  "Resolution for Symptom 1" did the trick for me.

Thank you so very much Mike!

Spanish Harlem Back

Justin P has announced that the Spanish Harlem Pinata Beaters franchise will return.  The team is hoping to earn an unprecedented 3rd consecutive title.
