- They've done it, everyone's favorite underdog has advanced to the semi's with a 4-3 victory over Brighton. It was an exciting 11 inning contest, one in which the Blackbirds Tim Burke coughed up the lead in the bottom of the 9th, but ultimately pitched 4 innings to redeem himself and capture the win. Nap Lajoie had 3 hits, including the game winner, and Duke Snider 2 triples.

- With a 2-1 victory, the NY Blues, another underdog, will face off against the Blackbirds in the semi's. Ron Guidry was masterful, holding Newark to 7 hits over 9 innings, and picking up 6 K's. The Blues scored in the 4th and 7th on solo shots from Mickey Mantle and Sammy Sosa.
