Man, can't imagine being an ATB rookie again. It's all in comparing players to their time. Mattingly I have rated 700th or so among batters. Two reasons - his OBP isn't historically good and he played in a hitters park, big time. Lefties singles are inflated 18%, home runs 8%. Add it all up, and he just doesn't compare to the all time greats.
Rice is even worse, 1000th best in my rankings. He played in a crazy hitters park 105/140/129/132 for righties and again, with an not historically important batting average or OBP.
Rice and mattingly I thought these guys were good picks. Who knew they would be stinko in this format. Unless its me and how I am playing them. Brews
