LCS Game 4: Bernard 6 hits over 8 innings leads Newark in 4-1 win

Slam Dumps 4, Didgeridoos 1
The team goal for Newark heading into the LCS was one of containment. Keep Lou Gehrig in check, and Kakadu would go meekly into the night. With an 0-3 night and 2 K's, the lefty Gehrig continues to struggle against the lefty laden Newark rotation. For the series, Gehrig has been held to a .400 slugging percentage and no RBI.

The star of this night was Bill Bernard. After giving up a solo shot to Joe Torre in the 2nd, Bernard more than settled in, retiring 20 of the next 24 batters before tiring with 2-outs in eighth and giving way to the bullpen. Newark did the bulk of their damage in the 5th thanks in part to a Robin Yount home run. An error by Kakadu shortstop Lou Boudreau helped extend the inning and leading to two more unearned runs.

Unlike the DC-Gold Country series, it is difficult to imagine Kakadu winning two in a row a this point.
