5)  9 Points-Barry Bonds - - - (0, 1, 6 /  7 ballots)
8)  1 Points-Hugh Duffy - - - -(0, 0, 1 /  1 ballots)
6)  1 Points-Ross Barnes -  - -(0, 0, 1 /  1 ballots)

Despite the first subliminal vote campaigning in league history, Turkey Stearnes does not win the AL MVP Award, more on that in minute.

Instead, Babe Ruth comfortably wins due to his ATB leading Home Runs, RC/27, and OPS.  He was truly great for the "Mechanics" and well worth the early 1st round pick.

Perhaps most interesting was Fred Dunlap in second place.  He mashed, and as a middle infielder was definitely deserving of some praise and I glad many recognized the fact.

Onto Stearnes, he had two things working against him:
  • He missed a lot of playing time due to injury
  • He was on a 72 win team
If either one of those hindrances were removed I think he had a real shot.

  1. As for Turkey, third place is good. And nobody was "stuffing" the ballot box. ;)

  2. He gobbled up those extra-base hits.
