Changing of the Guard?

After Sim 1C I glanced at the standings and noticed something odd.  For the first time I can recall, perhaps ever, no original ATB owner is currently leading any of the division races.  In fact, no original ATB owner is even holding down a playoff slot.

This may not seem like much, but consider this.  Over the past 5 season, the core group of original ATB owners (those with more than 10 seasons played) have a combined winning percentage of .547.  Everyone else combines for .483.  Over the course of 162 games that's the difference between and 89 win team and a 72 win team.  Further, in the All Time Power Rankings, original owners occupy 5 of the top 7 slots.

This is by no means a slight to new owners, it simply speaks to the complexity (and perhaps at times arbitrary nature) of DMB.  Why is Hank Aaron not elite?  Ditto for Bob Gibson, Sandy Koufax, or even Don Mattingly?  Defense accounts for how much?  Owners have to see to believe, and the original batch of owners went through the same process, only 10 years ago.

So, kudos to the newer owner crop.  24 smart owners makes ATB a better league!
