Opening Day!

Just for the heck of it, I figured I would post our opening day in stages this year.  As a reminder to the new folks, each night, Sunday through Thursday, I run 3 days of simulations, totaling 15 days of simming per week.  This includes off days, so usually not 15 full games for each team.

Just for today, I will post single days at a time.  Here is day 1.

American League

  • Ankhana defeats New Orleans 5-4 behind a solid Addie Joss start and a 3 run bomb from Cupid Childs
  • Russ Ford tosses a 5 hit shutout as Rochester rolls past Hudson 6-0
  • In a wonderful pitchers duel, Dutch Leonard bests Babe Adams 3-1 in a Helena victory over Downsouth
  • After a blistering pre-season that saw Spanish Harlem win 23 of 28, they go down without a fight 6-0 to Denver on opening day.  Cy Blanton was masterful in the win.
  • Willie Wells homered and collected three hits in Willets Point 7-4 win over Dharma.
  • Six Gunters have a multi-hit day in their 11-3 drubbing over Brooklyn.  Randy Johnson lived up to his draft position, completing the game and giving up just 5 hits, 3 unearned runs, and striking out 9.
National League
  • Juan Marichal outduels Greg Maddux in Grumman's 4-1 victory over Chatanooga.  Bullet Joe Rogan and Sammy Sosa each homered in the win.
  • Who said #2 overall was too early for the Big Train?  Walter Johnson turned in a win for Hoboken, defeating the Guardians 5-1.
  • Gotta love the NL. 34 players were used in the Flin Flon 4-1 win over Planet 10,  Pinch hitting Bob Caruthers drove in 2 runs in the 9th to seal the deal for the Arctic Foxes.
  • In the Game of the Day, Charlie "King Kong" Keller homered in the top of the 9th to secure Alberquerque a 9-8 win over Lakeview.  There were nine lead changes or ties in he game.
  • Oscar Charleston 6th inning bomb gives Shamokin a tough played 3-2 win over Pedro Martinez and his Sparta Hoplites.
  • Dwight Gooden says "I belong!" giving up just 2 hits in 7 innings and propelling Jeff City to a 6-2 victory over Seattle.  It wasn't all roses though, Gooden walked 7 too.  Mike Trout powered the offense with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.
Good luck everyone!
