The Tale of Two Walters

By all accounts The Big Train is off to a good start - 54 IP, 24 H, 11 BB, 30 K with opponents batting just .131 against him.  Yet somehow the right handed flamethrower is just 3-3 for the Dayton Toppins.

How is this possible you say?  This has to be one of the more interesting game logs

  • In his 3 wins:  3 Shutouts, 3 1-hitters, 4 BB, 15 K, 0.00 ERA*
  • In his 3 losses: 5.13 ERA, 19 IP, 6 BB, 8 K
*Tip o' the cap to Joe V for sending this in:  So here is an odd stat......Walter Johnson is 3-3.  All three wins are 1-hitters.  Two of those he gave up hits in the first inning, and in the last one he had a no-hitter into the 6th.
