Sonoran World Champions!

Sonoran Black Diamonds 2, Dumai's Wells Oathbinders 1
The Black Diamonds are ATB XII Champions. Congrats Justin P!

Lady Baldwin was up to his old tricks this night, clinching the series with an 11 K, 8 hit performance, pitching into the 9th. He tired in the 9th and required Cla Meredith to close it out in a tight spot, the the Black Diamond faithful still adore him.

An exciting 9th inning almost sent the series to a 7th game. After recording an out to start the inning, Baldwin gave up back to back singles to pinch hitter Felipe Alou and Jack Glasscock. Star third basemen George Brett, riding the pine to start the night, came in as a pinch hitter ripped a double down the the third base line making the score 2-1. In came Meredith who ran the count full to Ray Grimes before walking him, loading the bases for the Oathbinders best hitter, Stan Musial.

Meridith drilled the second pitch from Meredith, but it was a one hopper right to third base. Glasscock was forced at home for the second out. The next batter Rudy York struck out on 5 pitches to end the game, and end the series.

There was more excitement earlier in the game too. All the Black Diamond runs came in the 4th when Dumai's Wells starter Noodles Hahn lost complete control of his pitches. Robin Yount and Barry Bonds each singled to start the inning, and were followed by a Fred Dunlap walk, a Fred Lynn sac fly, another walk to Dave Winfield , and then a bases loaded walk to Jim Gentile for the second run.

Starting Lines
- Hahn (DWO): 6.0 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 4 K
- Baldwin (SBD): 8.1 IP, 8 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 11 K

Notes
- In the top of the 5th, Joe Kelley (DWO) was tossed from the game arguing a questionable called third strike
- Series MVP goes to Al Orth who was magnificent in 2 starts: 16 IP, 0.56 ERA, 11 H, 5 K.
