Chipper Jones Double in 13 Advances Sparta to ALCS

It took back to back 13 inning games to decide the series, but in the end Sparta proved to be the better team winning 2-1 and taking the series in 6 games.

It was a pitchers duel this afternoon.  Fanclub's Don Newcombe completed 9 innings giving up just 1 run on 7 hits while Kevin Brown was virtually flawless in 7 frames.

With Brown out of the game and Fanclub down 1-0 in the 9th, the visitors tied it up thanks to a Jorge Posada 1-out double.  Fanclub had a chance to take the lead when Gorman Thomas followed with a single and Hughie Jennings was plunked to load the bases, but Adrian Gonzalez grounded to the pitcher to end the inning.

Starters
Don Newcombe (JMF) - 9.0 IP, 7 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 2 K
Kevin Brown (SH) - 7.0 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K
