Greg Maddux was simply too much for the Fanclub to handle as the Cy Young front runner gave up just 4 hits in 8 innings, striking out 7. Jimmy Key pitched well for Fanclub but a Hughie Jennings error in the ninth led to the go-ahead and ultimate game winning run.
