Jenkins outduels Clemens 3-1; Barnstormers advance to finals

Game 5 (3 vs 7)
Clover Bottom Barnstormers @ Stoughton Storm

Fergie Jenkins last 7 innings, tossing 4 hit, 1 run ball before turning the game over to a bullpen closed the series out with two perfect innings.  Jenkins only hiccup was a bad pitch to Ken Caminiti that the third basemen rocked for a solo home run in the 6th.

For his  part, Storm starter Roger Clemens pitched well too, lasting the full 9 innings striking out 7 but allowing 3 runs to score in the process.

Two of the runs came in the first.  Eddie Collins led the game off with a single, swiped second, then trotted home on a Joe Jackson triple.  The right fielder scored a moment later on a Joe Kelley single.  Two runs were all Jenkins and the Barnstomers needed.

Series MVP was Joe Jackson who hit .476 and drove in 5.

Starting Pitchers

Jenkins - 7.0 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K
Clemens - 9.0 IP, 8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 2 BB, 7 K
